Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa pp. 250-255 This story was very interesting to read in my opinion. I soaked it up like a sponge. Probably because of the way my life has gone up until now, i can competely identify with the author of this story, if from the other end that is. This humorous piece of work written by David Sedaris is full of “laugh out loud” moments, and describes the life of David, who is envious of Hugh’s estranged lifestyle in the country of Ethiopia (in Addis Ababa, to be exact.) David appears to have a very civilized, average American life in North Carolina, (collie and house cat and all).

I think hugh wanted more stucture, and even more simpleness to his childhood life, whereas the American boy would like nothing better than to throw rocks at an alligator, or move to the congo, or have a monkey and two horses as pets.
